Fruit

A mature disciple will bear much fruit, both the Fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22) and the fruit of good works (Ephesians 2:10).

In John 15:8, Jesus says, “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourself to be my disciples.” As we draw closer to the Day when our works will be tried by fire, we want to be sure we are bearing more and more good fruit. We do this by offering ourselves to the Lord and His work in accordance with the gifts He has given us. In this way, we will be laying up treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:19-21) and ensuring a reward of gold, silver, and costly stones rather than an ash heap resulting from wood, hay, and stubble.

During this season of your journey as a disciple, we encourage you to find a place to serve according to your God-given gifts and passion. Romans 12:7-8 says it like this: We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

We can help you find a place to serve. And if you have a gift of leadership, we have a place for you to exercise your gift. And if you don’t quite know what your giftings are, we can help with that as well. Listen for opportunities to serve and get involved. You will enjoy your church experience much more. And you won’t have to dread the Day when our works will be tried by fire.
