Pontiac Impact

Becoming Like Jesus & Doing His Work

‭‭‭"And your people will rebuild the ancient ruins; You will raise up and restore the age-old foundations [of buildings that have been laid waste]; You will be called Repairer of the Breach, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings." ‭– ‭‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭58‬‬:‭12‬ ‭AMP

We are committed to creating ministries with lasting impact!

At Lifepoint, we take the mission of “becoming like Jesus and doing His work” very seriously. One of the ways we do this is by creating enduring ministries that will hopefully outlive us. Here are a few of the ministries that were started by faithful Christ-followers at Lifepoint, with the goal of being the hands and feet of Jesus to our community.

Oakland Hope

20 E. Walton Blvd., Pontiac, MI 48340

When Margie, our church receptionist, had a burden for hurting families during the economic downturn in 2010, she asked if she could offer a few staple food items out of a small closet at Lifepoint. This small act of faith and compassion eventually turned into a thriving organization called Oakland Hope. Oakland Hope provides FREE groceries to hundreds of families each month, funded by a full service thrift store offering clothing and furniture to families in need.

Power Company Kids Club

Power Company Kids Club

530 E Pike St., Pontiac, MI 48342

In 1988, while serving as youth pastor and worship leader at Lifepoint (then Calvary Temple), Pastor Rick Bosnack led a couple of outreaches to Baldwin Park in Pontiac, MI. The response was outstanding. People came from all over the neighborhood to enjoy music, activities, food and the Gospel.  Around this same time, Lifepoint’s children’s pastor, David Kirby—recently retired from Detroit Edison—named the church’s children’s ministry The Power Company. Lifepoint began offering transportation to children and families in Pontiac, and a growing number of volunteers joined the mission of reaching the next generation. In March 1993, John Gunn, Lifepoint’s former pastor, resigned the church and established the Power Company Kids Club.  Lifepoint graciously donated 20 school buses to the mission, and the rest is history.

Power Company’s mission is to build enduring relationships with urban youth, creating an environment for growth with proven programs, and equipping kids for life with the right skills and opportunities.

Longest Breakfast Table

Saturday, September 6th at 8:30-11:00 AM

Lifepoint Christian Church proudly hosts the Annual Longest Breakfast Table in Waterford on September 6th. This outdoor event allows the community to connect with our local police and firefighters, thank them for their service, and raise money for their worthwhile benevolence funds. We encourage our local businesses and residents to partner with us, supporting these selfless first responders by sponsoring this event. Here is an opportunity to meaningfully give back to the community and honor those who faithfully serve us.
